For successful installation the hard disk drive on which the program is run, should be formatted in NTFS, and also operating system Windows XP is preferred (for VISTA and Windows 7 see above compatibility notes for running if you have errors).
Only for 32 bit windows XP, ME, Windows NT, VISTA and WINDOWS 7. Not MAC, Linux or 64 bit Windows.
Installing the Program:
Please scan through these error messages and help installation instructions prior to emailing for our help.
If at any time during the installation process you get an error message about missing programs, you will need to install these from the ‘additional extra programs’ folder on the ‘ElsaWin Setup CD’.
If you are using Windows VISTA or Windows 7, please turn on the feature ‘Windows XP Compatible Mode’, this feature allows you to install a program using XP. When selecting the option please make sure you also select the ‘Administrator’ tick box as well.
Before Installing:
Please remove from your PC any other versions of ElsaWin you have installed. To do this go to:
‘My Computer’ ‘Control Panel’ ‘Add/Remove Programs’ ElsaWin
It is also required to delete the ElsaWin folder on your computer’s Hard Drive, to do this please go to:
‘My Computer’ ‘Local Disc (C :) hard drive ElsaWin (right click and select ‘Delete’)
Then Restart PC!
If you get an error message with:
failed to load infoPASS, infoSNK, infoHS2, infoWT, infoSLP, infoWWW, infoAU, infoRL, infoKi2, infoIGG, and infoSAZ. Failed to create document etc.
You need to make sure both Elsa admin program and the 3.70/71 update on the setup disc 1 is first fully installed (using compatibility mode for XP service pack 2 at time of installation on the setup files) and you have both the program icon shortcuts (on your desktop) with compatibility mode for XP service pack 2 ticked.
Also make sure you have created a second user with admin rights in the Elsa admin program first.
To choose XP compatibility mode on Vista and Windows 7 right click on the setup files and the two shortcuts, next go to properties then compatibility mode. Run as XP service pack 2 and tick the administer box, next apply and ok.
You'll need to go in to "ElsaWin Administration" and create another username (second user) with administrator rights to view the repair manual and everything else. The initial primary Admin cannot do anything with the repair manual information, as it is just the primary program administrator, this may well appear in German but do not panic.

If you have correctly installed and loaded the Elsa admin software from setup disc 1; including updating from 3.6 to 3.7 and correctly installed the data DVD 1 and 2 from the three discs (data discs take a while to install as they are on double DVD’S) and still have an issue with being unable to view your workshop repair data. You need to make sure that when the VW note appears after running the user Elsa program to scroll down and click OK (do not just click off the small X to close the note down).
The Program Adobe Acrobat Reader should be installed already on your PC (find this in the extra addition programs folder on setup admin disc if not) for viewing of electric schemes, it is necessary to install program Adobe SVG Viewer 3.0(SVGView.exe) also on the setup disc additional programs if not already installed.

After installing CD 1 and DVD 1 and DVD 2 open ElsaWin (admin/admin) and if it's in German even though you selected English during the install, fix this by choosing Einstellungen on the top tab and then the second option. There you can choose English.
When the program opens you will have a start-up screen with a multi choice menu. You will need to have the cars details to access the desired info. ~ make ~ model year ~ sales model ~ engine type ~ gear type. Or use the vehicle number. Click OK when details are entered.

Still stuck? Please email us with as much details as possible of your error and your operating system being used including the number of bits you are running on.
