postal delay caused by snow

Snow affects UK postal deliveries and collections

Snowy Footprints On The Dock

As snow once again covers much of the UK, delays to postal deliveries and collections are being announced.

Royal Mail breaks down service information by region: areas currently listed as affected by the weather include Scotland, the north east and north west of England, and Devon and Cornwall.

ParcelForce has made an announcement detailing affected areas, mostly in Scotland and northern and central England:

If you live in an area that has had bad snow or maybe still has snow then please be patient, everyone is working hard to try and get all mail delivered in time for xmas.

Some courier companies have suspended all collections until week beginning the 13th Dec so they can try and catch up with the backlog. We are trying to send out as many of the courier orders as we can with UkMail who are collecting and will contact you if your order is affected. As of the 1st Dec Royal Mail have suspended their special delivery next day guarantee and will re-instate this when things get back to normal which may not be until the new year. This means that parcels sent via special delivery are NOT guaranteed to arrive next day and no one will be refunded if they don't arrive next day. Special delivery parcels are being given priority over normal post but these are still taking a few days to arrive especially in Scotland. Please view the Royal Mail service update page with more information on the delays caused by the weather - it can be found here http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump1?catId=400144&mediaId=112300784

This is also having a knock on effect to parcels being delivered abroad, especially if you also have snow in your country.Severe weather conditions are impacting UK Mail’s ability to deliver a normal service in the following postcode areas:

AA, AB, BN, BR, CM, CR, CT, DA, DD, DH,DL, DN, EH, FK, FY, G, GU, HG, HU, KT, KY,LA, ME, ML, NE, PA, PH, RH, RM, SE, SH,SM, SR, SS, TN,TS, YO

Please expect delay's over December and January for any posted manuals. This effects all postal deliveries from the UK depots. Any quesions on the status of your delivery please contact our support team to see if your item has been caught up in the Royal Mail delay caused by adverse weather conditions.
